MOVE Board of Directors are dedicated members of the community who direct MOVE programs that provide transportation to Stanislaus County residents, allowing them lead independent lives.

Geri Vargas

Board Vice Chair
Geri Vargas worked as the Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Student Services at Modesto Junior College (MJC) for over 20 years. During that time, she volunteered on numerous occasions assisting with various fundraisers for the Stanislaus community programs. She joined the Latina Leadership Network (LLN) of the CA Community colleges mentoring students at MJC and starting new student chapters. Her support to our community continued as she served on multiple non-profit organizations as Board of Directors over the years, including but not limited to, Haven Center and Central Valley Opportunity Center. Her desire to serve in leadership has brought her to serve as president of Mujeres Latinas de Stanislaus County happily stating, “I feel fully rewarded giving back to my community.” Director Vargas chose to join MOVE Board of Directors in 2022 to have the opportunity to advocate for seniors in Stanislaus County. In her spare time Ms. Vargas enjoys traveling, gardening, spending time with her eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Lupe Aguilera

Board Member
Lupe Aguilera worked for twenty-one years for the Department of Corrections retiring young enough to enjoy her life. She has travelled extensively, learning, and enjoying the diversity of cultures. In the early ‘90’s she moved to Oakdale California with her family and soon began to volunteer for more than twenty non-profit organizations through the years including: Girl Scouts, Soroptimist International, Love Oakdale, Oakdale Police Dept. (CAPS Senior Outreach Coordinator) and many more! Influenced by Ann Farmer who spoke at the Women’s Club about the need of support for seniors in the community, she has been committed to “give back, make a difference in my community and the lives of others.” Ms. Aguilera joined the MOVE Board of Directors, to continue serving the seniors in Oakdale, by helping find transportation solutions to support their daily needs. In her spare time, she enjoys researching her family tree and stamp collecting.

Joyce Gandelman Esq.

Board Member
Joyce M. Gandelman was born and raised in Sacramento. She was the Executive Director of the Senior Advocacy Network-Senior Law Project, a non-profit organization, from 2010 until her retirement in 2024. She is a member of the Trusts and Probate Section of the California State Bar and has practiced Law since 2004. She is the Stanislaus County Senator for the California Senior Legislature, serves on the Triple A Council of California and a Member at Lage of MOVE. Ms. Gandelman has been a member of the Commission on Aging since 2007 and currently serves as the 1st vice president. She is a founding member of the Stanislaus Senior Foundation and is a past president and current treasurer of Congregation Beth Shalom. Education: BA – UC Davis; JD Humphreys College of Law.

Yvonne Reynolds

Board Member
Yvonne Reynolds is a seasoned community leader and dedicated professional. With over 20 years of residency in Stanislaus County, Yvonne has cultivated a thoughtful understanding of the region’s needs and opportunities, making her an asset to the board. Her career has spanned roles as an insurance underwriter, home educator, and substitute teacher, where she has applied her analytical skills and educational expertise to serve diverse communities. Yvonne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from California State University East Bay. Since 2011, Yvonne has been an active volunteer with Compassion International, where she has taken on leadership roles, including coaching, and training new volunteers. Her commitment to global outreach is demonstrated by her extensive travel to Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala to support and engage with sponsored children. Locally, Yvonne has been a pivotal volunteer with Love Patterson since its inception in 2022. Her involvement in local government since 2020 highlights her dedication to civic engagement. On the MOVE board, she is committed to ensuring that all residents have access to vital transportation resources. Exceedingly, Yvonne’s professional acumen, volunteer experience, and community involvement positions her as a dynamic and effective MOVE Board Director.
